The process of getting a building permit in Chicago can be daunting. Even knowing if you NEED a permit or not can be unclear. The Department of Buildings was interested in creating a guide. Process included an in-depth review of the ordinances and several meetings with department officials to clarify questions. An informational graphic approach was taken and reviewed by potential permit applicants to resolve lingering questions. Final piece took the form of an informational book and online PDF.
